Current context: The naval version of the indigenously-built Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) successfully landed on the "ski-jump" deck of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya on 11th Jan 2020.

  • The Naval LCA is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization, DRDO.
  • With the landing, India has entered into the club of selected nations having the capability to design a fighter jet which can land on an aircraft carrier.
  • Commodore Jaideep Maolankar conducted the maiden landing.
  • LCA is the smallest and lightest Multi-Role Supersonic Fighter Aircraft of its class.
  • The Indian Air Force has already inducted a batch of Tejas aircraft.
