Current Context: The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research’s Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB), New Delhi has developed a low-cost COVID-19 test strip named ‘Feluda’.
- It’s a paper-based strip and detects the new coronavirus within an hour and thus proves to be helpful in rapid checking and testing of doubtful patients of COVID-19 infection.
- The test uses the cutting-edge gene-editing tool- Crispr-Cas9 to target and identify the genomic sequences of the novel coronavirus in the samples of suspected individuals.
