Current Context: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has decided to launch development projects in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Development Projects in Andaman & Nicobar Island-- NABARD
  • The development projects are launched for worth Rs 44 lakhs.
  • The projects are launched under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan with an aim to develop rural entrepreneurship.
  • The upliftment of the region will take place with the formation and development of Self Help Groups.
  • Under this, NABARD will conduct 385 village-level programmes in which training to the newly formed SHG will be given.
  • The SHGs formed and developed will include Bamboo handcrafting, Mushroom cultivation.
  • The development projects to uplift the tour and travel will also be conducted by the bank.
  • NABARD has also partnered with Centre of Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) to carry out agricultural programmes for Rs 20 lakhs in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
