Current Context: The National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) has signed a MoU with National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
- Upon signing the agreement, NATGRID will be able to access the complaints on First Information Reports (FIR) and stolen vehicles.
- Thus, now NATGRID will be able to access the database of centralised online Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). CCTNS is linked with around 14,000 police stations. Ans it is mandatory for all the police stations to provide the FIR data in CCTNS.
- Thus now the NATGRID organisation will get easy access on FIR of the suspect and of the complainer such the contact numbers, family background professional background, address, details about the complaint etc.
- Therefore, the agreement has linked intelligence and investigation agencies.
- The agreement will be at work till 31st December 2020.
