Current Context: The 10th East Asia Summit 2020 was conducted virtually. The agenda of the meet was about international and national developments and to mitigating measures for COVID-19.
10th East Asia Summit (EAS) 2020

  • India was represented by External Affairs Minister for State, V. Muraleedharan.
  • The meeting was chaired by Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, Pham Bin Minh.
  • In the meeting, the dignitaries discussed the ways to strengthen the EAS platform and make it responsible to handle upcoming challenges.
  • The ministers discussed the views for mitigating and fast recovery from coronavirus
  • They also discussed the work progress in the Manila Plan of Action.
  • V. Muraleedharan also acknowledged Vietnam’s work in providing supervision towards ‘Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN’ during the pandemic state of COVID-19.
