Current Context: The MoU between India and the United Kingdom in the Information Communication Technologies and Telecommunications (ICT) sector was approved by Union
MoU between India and UK in ICT Sector- Approved by Union Cabinet
Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi.
  • The MoU was signed between Department of Digital, Media and sports of UK and Ministry of Communications of India.
  • Both the nations will seek cooperation to strengthen telecommunication sector.
  • They will explore the cooperation in the areas like: (a) ICT policy regulation (b) Spectrum Management (c) Telecommunication connectivity including mobile roaming (d) Telecommunications/ICT technical standardization and testing and certification (e) Wireless Communication (f) Boost trade and investment in ICT through visits, exhibitions and other similar events.(g) Technological Development and advancement in IoT, Cloud Computing etc. (h) Build expert capacity (i) Enhance security using telecommunication.  
  • This MoU will also open several opportunities for India post Brexit.
