Current Context: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) signed MoU with the union territory of Ladakh.
MoU signed Between CSIR and UT Ladakh
  • The MoU was signed to have the development of UT Ladakh by using Science and Technology (S&T) interventions.
  • This MoU will also help to establish a knowledge partnership between CSIR and the Ladakh.
  • The partnership will help to explore development in the sectors like natural resources, the introduction of cash crops in UT and utilization of bioresource endemic to UT.
  • During the 1st phase pf MoU, 6 of the CSIR institutes will work to develop the union territory of Ladakh through S&T interventions.
  • The six of the CSIR institutes are: CSIR-IIIM, CSIR-CMERI, CSIR-NBRI, CSIR-IHBT, CSIR-CLRI and CSIR-NGRI. Among this, CSIR-IIIM of Jammu will be the nodal institution.
