Current Context: India successfully test-fired indigenously-developed Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) systems 'Helina' and 'Dhruvastra'.
India Successfully Test Fired ‘Helina’ and 'Dhruvastra'
  • This has led to their induction in the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
  • The testing trials were conducted from the Advanced Light Helicopter at Pokhran deserts of Rajasthan.
  • Both the ATGM systems are having the all-weather day-and-night capability. They can defeat battle tanks with a conventional armour and explosive reactive armour.
  • The Helina ATGM is the Army version and Dhruvastra ATGM is the Air Force version.
  • Both the ATGMs are designed and developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
