Current Context: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched a sounding rocket named RH-560 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota Range.

  • The RH-560 was particularly launched to study attitudinal variations in the neutral winds and plasma dynamics.
  • The RH-560 are one or two-stage solid propellant rockets which are used for probing the upper atmospheric regions and to perform space research activities.
  • They will also be used as platforms to test the prototypes of new components or subsystems which are to be used in the launch of vehicles and satellites.
