- The NISER mission will be launched in early 2023.
- The NISER mission aims to measure changes in the earth’s surface globally with the help of advanced radar images.
- The mission is termed a dual-band (L-band and S-band) radar imaging mission. It is based on full polarimetric and interferometric modes of operation.
- It will observe small changes in land, vegetation, and cryosphere.
- Under this mission, L-band SAR and related systems are being developed by NASA and S-band SAR, spacecraft bus, launch vehicle, and related launch services are being developed by ISRO.
- The mission will help to attain scientific objectives like understanding the impact of climate change on Earth's changing ecosystems, land and coastal processes, land deformations and cryosphere.
