Current Context: The 8th edition of ‘Mitra Shakti 2021’ joint bilateral military exercise has commenced.

  • The ‘Mitra Shakti’ is being held between India and Sri Lanka at Combat Training School, Ampara, Sri Lanka.
  • It commenced from 4th Oct and will be held till 15th Oct 2021.
  • The ‘Mitra Shakti 2021’ joint bilateral military exercise aims to develop and promote relations between both nations and enhance interoperability.
  • The exercise will help to share best practices to counter-terrorism and counter insurgence between both nations.
  • The exercise is held every year in India and Sri Lanka. In 2020, it was not held due to the pandemic situation.
