Current Context: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) held a Joint Cyber Drill 2021.

  • The Joint Cyber Drill 2021 was conducted for the Critical Network Infrastructure operators of India, which are the systems, assets and networks which work to offer security to India
  • The objective of the drill was to enhance cyber security and make India ready for various cyber security parameters and platforms
  • It also helped to enhance protection and incident response capability of India
  • Various cyberattacks and information security incidents were tackled during the drills
  • The participants were imparted with the training about how to tackle every type of cyber attacks and incidents
  • This drill highlighted the major role of the Computer Security Incident Response Team and Computer Incident and Response Team (CIRT) which are responsible for handling security breaches
  • Such type of drills helps to enhance security, protect critical information and build cyber resilience.
