Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a 550-tonne capacity of Gobar-Dhan (Bio-CNG) Plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh via video.

  • This plant is considered to be the biggest Bio-CNG plant in Asia.
  • The funds of Rs 150 crore are required to build this plant.
  • It is based on the concept of waste-to-wealth innovation.
  • Gobar Dhan means wet household waste and waste from cattle and farms.
  • It will be around 17,000 kg per day of CNG and 100 tonnes per day of organic compost.
