- Assam government decides to withdraw cases with the quantum of sentence of fewer than three years. The state government will wipe out 86,000 cases by this measure.

- The government of Assam in the next three years will spend Rs 300 crore for the development and upgradation of the district and sub-divisional judicial courts of the various districts in the state.
- Himanta Biswa Sarma in his independence day speech announced that the government will withdraw one lakh minor cases to reduce the burden on lower courts. The government will withdraw all cases of mild nature involving objectionable comments on Facebook, Twitter, etc. This will clear nearly one lakh pending cases in Assam and the court can focus on clearing 4.5 lakh other cases.
