Gujarat government to launch 'Village Engineers Programme'

Current Context: Gujarat government to launch 'Village Engineers Programme' that will provide training in multiple skills to tribal youth.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship had discussions with Members of Parliament and Ministers from Gujarat for creating skilling opportunities for tribal youth in their local areas to reduce migration of youth.
The discussion was held under the 'Skill Samwaad' series that focussed on the 'Village Engineers Programme' that will be rolled out in the state soon.
Under this program, tribal youth will be provided with multiple skill training so that they can participate in the economic activities in their districts.
In order to implement the scheme, both the state and central government must act in coordination. Opportunities in the areas of electric vehicle (EVs), drone manufacturing, organic food manufacturing, mango processing, and textile manufacturing were discussed.
Recently Madhya Pradesh launched Village Engineers Programme to provide various skill training to tribal youth. The first batch of village engineers got recognition in the form of certificates.
