- IIT Bombay with support from the Ministry of Steel, the Government of India, and other industry partners has created the Centre of Excellence in Steel Technology (CoEST). The JSW Technology Hub will be established within the CoEST. This is established with the objective of rapidly expanding the production of quality steel while maintaining carbon emissions at the target level.
- The partnership with IIT Bombay will also help the JSW group to increase research and development (R&D) efforts in the steel sector to develop capabilities in the area of steel technology.
- The JSW Technology Hub will act as a nodal point of JSW Group's research activities beyond the steel domain. JSW group will provide technical and financial support to build the JSW Technology Hub with state-of-the-art infrastructure to carry out a wide range of R&D for steel manufacturing.
- The JSW Technology Hub is expected to be completed by FY28. With JSW Technology Hub, IIT Bombay and JSW group will jointly conduct research projects and technical activities on various aspects of steel manufacturing and its use.
- Sajjan Jindal Steel Professor Chair will be established in IIT Bombay to enable focused training and research on emerging technologies in steel manufacturing.
