  • India and Maldives upgraded their strategic partnership by signing six pacts and documents across sectors including defence and cyber security to maintain stability in the Indian Ocean region.
  • India has announced a $100 million line of credit to finance infrastructure projects in the Maldives. The two sides also decided to widen the counter-terror partnership.
  • Maldives and India signed a cyber-security agreement to strengthen ties on transnational crimes and terrorism in the Indian Ocean region.
  • Prime Minister Modi and President of Maldives Ibrahim Solih remotely take part in the pouring of the first concrete of the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP), a $500 million worth project financed by India that includes a 6.74km bridge and the causeway linking Male and other neighboring islands.
  • Ibrahim Solih while addressing the media expressed gratitude to India for providing a landing craft and utility vehicle to the Maldives National Defence force and for the help provided to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
