- Cabinet led by Chief Minister Manik Saha cleared the proposal to hike DA for state government employees and pensioners by 5 percent with effect from 1 July. This move comes ahead of the assembly elections due in March next year.
- Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury said for this government has to bear an additional annual burden of Rs 523.80 cr.
- A total of 1,88,494 people including 1,04,683 regular employees and 80,855 pensioners will be benefited through this.
- The DA of state government employees has increased from three percent of their basic pay to eight percent. While the central government employees are given 34% of their basic pay as DA.
- The central government on 20 April announced a hike in DA for central government employees working at central autonomous bodies.
