Current Context: India-US conducts joint special force exercise Vajra Prahar-22 in Himachal Pradesh.
  • The 13th edition of the India-USA joint special force drill, Exercise Vajra Prahar-22 concludes at Bakloh cantonment in Himachal Pradesh.
  • This exercise provided an opportunity for the Special Forces of both countries to train in air operations, special operations, and counterterrorism operations in a joint environment under the United Nations Charter.
  • The 21-day-long exercise Vajra Prahar-22 was conducted in two phases. The first phase included combat conditioning and tactical level special mission training exercise. The second phase included 48 hours of validation of training received in the first phase.
  • Exercise Vajra Prahar is significant in terms of security challenges faced by both countries in the current global situation. The exercise also boosts the traditional bond of friendship between the special forces of both countries and improves bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.
  • Exercise Vajra Prahar is an annual exercise hosted alternatively by India and the United States. The 12th edition of the exercise was conducted on October 2021 at Joint Base Lewis Mc Chord, Washington.
