Current Context: National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for knowledge sharing and research collaboration.

  • As per the MoU, both will share knowledge on innovative ideas and will collaborate on the development of indigenous digital payments solutions.
  • This collaboration will help in the augmentation of cybersecurity controls for NPCI and its subsidiary's products and services.
  • IIT Kanpur has a C3i hub solely dedicated to developing cyber security solutions and cyber-physical systems. The institute is at the forefront when it comes to developing secure and innovative solutions for digital transactions and the storage of data.
  • This collaboration will help NPCI in strengthening its goal of achieving a holistic cyber secure ecosystem for the country. The faculty members from the institute will provide informative sessions and lectures on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Security Product Roadmaps, and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) for NPCI personnel.
  • NPCI will offer internships to IIT Kanpur students, providing them opportunities to work on live projects of NPCI.
