Tamil Nadu Police received President's Colour

Current Context: Vice president of India M Venkaiah Naidu presented the “President's colours” to Tamil Nadu police at a ceremony held at Rajarathinam stadium in Egmore. He presented the colours to M K Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Police received President's Colour
  • The police contingents State Disaster Response Force, Commandos, and coastal security group displayed their guard of honour.
  • President's colour is the greatest honours bestowed for commendable service to the nation. It is also known as Nishaan an emblem that is worn on the left-hand sleeve of the uniform by all the unit officers. A replica of the special flag will be worn on the uniform, which will be distributed to all police personnel in the state in a few days.
  • The President's colours were approved by the Tamil Nadu police on August 19,2009 but were not ceremonially accorded.
  • Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also released a special postal cover to mark the presentation.
