World's largest floating solar power plant to be built in Madhya Pradesh

Current Context: World's largest floating solar power plant is to be built in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

The solar power plant will generate 600 Megawatt power by 2022-23 will increase the power generation capacity of Madhya Pradesh.
The project is estimated to be worth over Rs 3000 crore. Omkareshwar dam was built on the Narmada river, the hydel project is spread across 100 square kilometers, there is a very large water body where the water level remains normal this will serve as the site for the floating solar power plant.
With this floating solar power plant, Khandwa becomes the only district in Madhya Pradesh to have a thermal power station, hydel and solar power plants.
Renewable energy department principal secretary, Sanjay Dubey said they will have a PPA of 300 MW. Given a little bit of leverage, a little more or less as per the requirement, in total instead of 300, we are doing PPA in the first phase of 278 MW.
