World's largest floating solar power plant to be built in Madhya Pradesh
  • The solar power plant will generate 600 Megawatt power by 2022-23 will increase the power generation capacity of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The project is estimated to be worth over Rs 3000 crore. Omkareshwar dam was built on the Narmada river, the hydel project is spread across 100 square kilometers, there is a very large water body where the water level remains normal this will serve as the site for the floating solar power plant.
  • With this floating solar power plant, Khandwa becomes the only district in Madhya Pradesh to have a thermal power station, hydel and solar power plants.
  • Renewable energy department principal secretary, Sanjay Dubey said they will have a PPA of 300 MW. Given a little bit of leverage, a little more or less as per the requirement, in total instead of 300, we are doing PPA in the first phase of 278 MW.
