  • The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) jointly apprehended a Pakistani boat with six crew that was carrying approximately 40 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 200 crore, from Indian waters near Gujarat.
  • Union Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated "Kendriya GST Parisar". It is a residential project for officers and staff of CGST Mumbai Zone under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).
  • The Signing of Guarantees for hosting the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Under 17 Women's World Cup 2022 was approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi. FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022 will be held in India between 11th and 30th October 2022.

  • Appointments:
    • Dr. Digambar Tukaram Shirke was appointed as in-charge Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Mumbai University. Dr. Dhirke replaced Dr. Suhas Pednekar and will be serving on the post until a permanent VC is appointed.
    • Rajdeepak Das was appointed as the Chairperson of the "Creative Council for South Asia" of Publicis Groupe. Anupriya Acharya is the current South Asia CEO of Publicis Groupe.
    • Former Indian left-arm pace baller, Zaheer Khan was appointed as the Global Head of Cricket Development for Mumbai Indians.
  • Obituary:
    • Former Davis Cup captain Naresh Kumar passed away at the age of 93. He was the mentor of Olympic medalist, Leander Paes.
    • Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's descendent, Chhatrapati Shivajiraje Bhosale passed away at the age of 75. He was a twelfth-generation descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
  • Important Days:
    • September 15 is celebrated as National Engineer's Day. It is celebrated to recognize and honor the achievements of the great engineer M Visvesvaraya. He received the Bharat Ratna in 1955.
    • September 15 is observed as the International Day of Democracy (IDD) across the world. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), 2007, passed the resolution to observe September 15 as the International Day of Democracy. It was celebrated in 2008 for the first time. The theme for IDD-2022 is, "To Uphold and Promote the Principles of Democracy".
