Khadi India Organizes "Aheli Khadi"

Current Context: Khadi India organized an Exhibition and a Fashion Show "Aheli Khadi" at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar.

• The prime objective of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) behind the event was, to position Khadi as a Fashion Fabric.
• In an effort to reach out to the youth and the global market, it was organized at the Tana Riri Auditorium, NIFT Gandhinagar.
• There has also been a constant effort from PM Modi to promote 'Khadi for All'.
• The KVIC was established in 1957 by the Government of India, under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956. It has its headquarters in Mumbai.
• The objective of the Commission is to plan, promote, organize and assist in the development of khadi and village industries. The current Chairperson of the KVIC is Vinal Kumar Saxena.
