Current Context: The NITI Aayog and the World Resources Institute (WRI) India launched India's first electric freight platform, e-FAST.

  • Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport India (e-FAST India) will help in finding support for innovative freight solutions.
  • The platform will also provide policies to accelerate the electrification of freight in India.
  • The e-FAST will also be supported by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), and the US-based CALSTART.
  • During the event, the WRI also unveiled its intuitive excel-based application, Total Cost of Ownership Evaluator (TCO Evaluator).
  • WRI is a global research institute that was established in 1982 in Washington DC. It has offices in more than 60 countries, including India.
  • WRI India is an independent charity legally registered under the India Resources Trust, that provides objective information and a pragmatic approach to fostering environmentally sustainable and socially equitable development.
