- This initiative aims to fulfill the growing demand for toys along with addressing the impacts of solid waste.

- The toycathon will be based on 3 broad themes:
- Fun and Learn seeks ideas for design and an early prototype of toys from waste at home, workplace, and surroundings.
- Use and Enjoy seeks ideas for design and models of games and play in the park/open spaces made from waste.
- New and Old seek ideas/solutions/working models for circularity in the toy industry.
- Swachh Toycathon is being organized as a part of the National Action Plan for Toys 2020.
- National Action Plan for Toys 2020 is an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) that was introduced to promote the Indian toy industry along with traditional handicrafts to make India a global Toy hub.
