  • National:
    • The Netherlands became India’s third-largest export destination after overtaking China and Bangladesh. The top export destination of India is the USA followed by the UAE and the Netherlands.
    • The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated an Advanced Cardiac Catherization Laboratory (ACCL) at DY Patil Medical College in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
    • NLC India Limited, under the Ministry of Coal and Petroleum, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) with the objective to develop onshore and offshore wind power projects across the country.
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Rozgar Mela which is the recruitment drive for 10 lakh personnel. During the event, PM Modi handed over appointment letters to 75,000 newly inducted appointees.

    • In the 90th General Assembly of Interpol, held in New Delhi from October 18 to 21, it was decided that the 91st General Assembly of Interpol will be held in Vienna, Austria.
    • The researchers from IIT-Madras and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory studied the interaction between microbes in the International Space Station (ISS) and found out that a microbe that resides in the ISS hampered the growth of fungus.
  • Books and Authors:
    • Eminent economist Dr. Bimal Jalan authored a book called “From Dependence to Self-Reliance: Mapping India’s Rise as a Global Superpower”. The book was published by the Rupa Publications of India.
