  • National News:
    • Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his presence in Ayodhya Deepotsav where 15.76 lakh earthen lamps (diyas) were lit, setting up a new Guinness World Record for burning the most earthen lamps.
    • Student Police Cadet (SPC) opened Honesty Shops in 15 schools in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. The objective of opening these shops is to inculcate the value of truthfulness and integrity in students.
    • The Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, gave assent to the ordinance increasing reservation for Schedule Castes (SCs) from 15% to 17% and for Schedule Tribes (STs) from 3% to 7%.
  • International News:
    • Cyclone Sitrang hit the densely populated, low-lying parts of Bangladesh, killing at least 9 people. The worst affected districts include Barguna, Narail, Sirajganj, and the island district of Bhol.
    • China blocked the UN proposal on the listing of Pakistan-based terrorists including Talha Saeed, son of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Chief Hafiz Saeed.
