  • The Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, said that the Government of India will establish 100 5G Laboratories around the country.
  • Aasra Pension Scheme was launched by the Telangana government as a part of its welfare measures and social safety net strategy. Aasra scheme can be availed by the older section of the state, physically disabled, widows, and beedi workers.
  • The Pullumpara village panchayat in the Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala became the first digitally literate panchayat in the country.
  • The Punjab National Bank (PNB) launched WhatsApp Banking Services for both customers and non-customers in India. For activation, customers will be needed to save the official WhatsApp no. of the PNB i.e., 9264092640, and initiate a conversation.

  • The team of researchers issued a warning concerning the changing chemistry of the western region of the Arctic Ocean. The experts found that the acidity level increase was three to four times faster than elsewhere.

    • The Government of India appointed Ajay Bhadoo as the Deputy Election Commissioner. Bhadoo is the 1999-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre.

    • Every year, October 04 to October 10 is observed as World Space Week (WSW) worldwide. It is an initiative of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The theme of WSW 2022 is, “Space and Sustainability”.

    • The Chief Executive of General Atomic Global Corporation, Vivek Lall received the Lifetime Achievement Award from US President Joe Biden.
    • JK Tyre & Industries Chairman Raghupati Singhania was conferred the Ph.D. Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PHDCCI’s) Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022 by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at the PHDCCI’s 117th annual session.

    • ATP 250 Tel Aviv Watergen Open: India’s Rohan Bopanna and Netherland’s Matwe Middelkoop registered a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni in the doubles final of the USD 1,019,855 ATP 250 Tel Aviv Watergen Open.
    • Sergio Perez of Red Bull won the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix 2022. Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc secured the runner-up position.
    • Indian Cricket Captain, Rohit Sharma became the first-ever Indian to play 400 T20s. The highest number of T20 matches have been played by the West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard (614 matches).
