Shiprocket Joins ONDC Network

Current Context: Shiprocket became the first inter-city logistics provider to join Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

• The primary objective behind the step was to provide logistical support and enable sellers from all segments of society to ship products to cities and towns across India.
• The initiative of the Shiprocket is set to serve over 100,000 customers and sellers from across 24,000 PIN Codes in India.
• The shipping of products will be done through both, cash-on-delivery and pre-paid options.
• Speaking about the partnership with ONDC, the co-founder of Shiprocket, Saahil Goel, said that it will enable them with state-of-the-art technology to:

1. manage delivery
2. offer data-backed real-time courier recommendations
3. improve warehousing capabilities

• The ONDC is a not-for-profit private company that was established in 2021 as a Section 8 company by the Government of India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The current CEO of ONDC is T Koshy.
