Current Context: India & US has launched a new energy storage task force in order to support clean energy.
U.S.-India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership
  • It will help India in achieving its goal of approximately 50 percent cumulative electric power installed capacity to be from any non-fossil fuel-based resource by the year 2030.
  • It will also help in augmenting the bond in the India-US partnership in the energy sector.
  • It was launched in the Ministerial meeting of the U.S.-India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP).
  • This meeting was organized between the US Energy Secretary and Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.
  • Both countries have collaborated for research and development under the same under US-India Partnership to Advance Clean Energy-Research (PACE-R).
  • Static Part- US and India are the second and third largest energy consumers.
