Current Context: The 35th Indo-Thai Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) was a bi-annual maritime exercise conducted by the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy from May 3 to May 10, 2023.

  • The exercise involved the participation of INS Kesari, an indigenously built LST (L), and HTMS Saiburi, a Chao Phraya Class Frigate, along with Maritime Patrol Aircraft from both navies.
  • The exercise was held along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the Andaman Sea.
  • The main objective of the CORPAT was to reinforce maritime linkages between India and Thailand and to ensure the safety and security of the international trade route in the Indian Ocean.
  • The exercise also aimed to enhance the inter-operability and cooperation between the two navies and to prevent and suppress unlawful activities like Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, piracy and armed robbery.
