    • According to the Periodic Labour Force Survey Report 2022-23 released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on October 9, 2023, the FLFPR has improved significantly by 4.2 percentage points to reach 37.0%.
    • The tenth phase of Sagar Parikrama was indeed started by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Parshottam Rupala, from Chennai on 13 October 2023.Sagar Parikrama is an ambitious project that aims to understand the needs and challenges of fishermen.
    • The International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress Abu Dhabi 2023 has indeed commenced at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The Congress is being held under the theme "Enriching Knowledge Societies".
    • The Department of Public Enterprises has recently granted the ‘Navratna’ status to two Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India, IRCON International and RITES.IRCON International and RITES informed in the exchange filing on Thursday, October 12, that they have been granted the ‘Navratna’ status by the Government of India.
    • Union Minister Shri Anurag Thakur launched the trailer of “Krish, Trish and Baltiboy – Bharat Hain Hum” on October 11, 2023. This animated series, consisting of two seasons, is produced by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Graphiti Studios.
    • An expert panel set up by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has indeed recommended an island-specific sustainable development and tourism policy. This recommendation was made in response to the rising sea levels and global warming, which pose a significant threat to islands.
    • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla handed over the P20 Presidency to the Parliament of Brazil on Saturday. This happened after the successful conclusion of the Ninth P20 Presidency at Yashobhoomi in Delhi.

    • The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, is planning to set up an e-commerce portal that will exclusively feature electric appliances with the highest efficiency ratings.
    • The Walmart Foundation has indeed invested $39 million in a farmer livelihood enhancement program in India.The investment is aimed at reaching 500 Farmer Producer Organizations/Farmer Producer Groups, targeting 800,000 farmers, more than half of whom are women.
    • The board of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has approved an equity contribution of up to 1,660.15 crore for a 50% stake in the joint venture company IndianOil NTPC Green Energy Pvt Ltd.
  • World:
    • Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and 10 other international rights groups have indeed expressed their concerns about the Indian government’s actions. They have condemned what they term as the misuse of counter-terrorism laws, financial regulations, and other laws to "silence journalists, human rights defenders, activists, and critics of the government".
    • Armenia’s President Vahagn Khachaturyan has indeed signed the ratification of the Rome Statute, recognizing the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) despite warnings from Russia. This makes Armenia the 124th member state of the statute.
  • Sports:
    • The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, unveiled the mascot and trophy for the Asian Women’s Hockey Championship in Ranchi. The mascot, named ‘Juhi’, is inspired by a popular elephant at Betla National Park.
  • Awards:
    • Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas will be honored with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI)
    • The 32nd Saraswati Samman was indeed awarded to the noted author and activist Sivasankari. She received this prestigious award for her memoir written in Tamil, Surya Vamsam.
    • Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal conferred the National Intellectual Property Awards at the National Intellectual Property Conference 2023 held in New Delhi.
