Coal India Limited signs MoU with NSDC for Establishing Multi Skill Development Institutes

Current Context: Coal India Limited (CIL) has indeed signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to establish Multi Skill Development Institutes (MSDIs) on 5th January 2024, in New Delhi.

  • The MoU was signed by Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Sh. Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR), Coal India Limited and Sh. Manoj Kumar, CMD, EdCIL (India) Ltd
  • One MSDI will be set up in each subsidiary of CIL. In the first phase, CCL, BCCL, MCL, NCL, and SECL will be covered, and the remaining subsidiaries will be included in the second phase.
  • The existing infrastructure at CIL subsidiaries will be developed as MSDIs.
  • The project will cover one-time capital expenditure for repurposing of existing infrastructure as MSDIs and Recurring and project Monitoring Unit (PMU) expenses per year.
