  • The Ministry of Coal has decided to establish a ‘Sustainable Development Cell’ (SDC) in order to promote environmentally sustainable coal mining in the country. The SDC will ensure that the coal companies maximise the utilisation of available resources in a sustainable way.
  • The “Phase one trade agreement” was announced between China and US on 14th Dec 19 to breakthrough 18-month-long bruising trade war between them. The agreement reduces some U.S. tariffs in exchange for increased Chinese purchases of American farm goods.

  • Tony-Ann Singh of Jamaica was announced as the winner of the Miss World 2019 beauty pageant and was crowned by her predecessor, Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce from Mexico. Ophely Mezino of France and Suman Rao of India were the first and second runners up of the 69th Miss World 2019 held at the ExCeL London on 14th December 19.
  • The Martyred Intellectuals Day was observed in Bangladesh on 14th Dec to commemorate the intellectuals killed by the Pakistan army on this day in 1971.
  • India’s wholesale inflation rose to 0.58% in November 19 from 0.16% on October 19, as per the data released by the Ministry Commerce and Industry. A sharp rise in food articles is the major factor behind the rise.
