  • Manuel Marrero Cruz has been appointed as the first prime minister of Cuba in more than 40 years by the President Miguel Díaz-Canel. The post of prime minister was scrapped in 1976 in the country by the then-revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
  • Eight West African countries have agreed to change the name of their common currency to Eco. The 8 countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The earlier currency CFA Franc, created in 1945, was seen as a sign of French interference in its former African colonies that are independent now.

  • Sushil Kumar Modi, convener of Group of Ministers on IGST has said that GST Council has decided to consider changes in rates once a year, and not in each and every meeting.
  • External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar co-chaired the 19th Joint Commission Meeting with Foreign Minister of Iran. Both nations agreed on accelerating the Chabahar project and to work together closely on their shared interests.
  • The birth anniversary of the former prime minister and farmer leader Chaudhary Charan Singh is observed on 23rd December. Charan Singh was the prime minister between July 1979 and January 1980.
  • President of India, Ram Nath Kovind released the mobile app of the Red Cross Society of India in Hyderabad. The app is developed by the Telangana Centre for Good Governance that will ensure easy access to blood bank and Red Cross membership.
