- 1st Indo-Pacific Business Summit: It was organised by CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and the Ministry of External Affairs with the theme of ‘Developing a road map for shared prosperity’. - The RBI imposed a penalty on 14 banks for contravention of various regulatory norms, including on lending to NBFCs. The total amount of penalty imposed is Rs 14.5 crore. A penalty of Rs 2 crore was imposed on the Bank of Baroda, Rs 50 lakh on the State Bank of India. The penalty of Rs 1 crore each was imposed on Bandhan Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Credit Suisse AG, Indian Bank, IndusInd Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, South Indian Bank, The Jammu & Kashmir Bank and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.
- The RBI has asked banks and financial institutions to use widely accepted alternative reference rates (AAR) instead of London Interbank Offered Rates (LIBOR) as the reference rate for entering into new financial contracts. RBI has also asked banks to cease using Mumbai Interbank Forward Outright Rate (Mifor). The decision of the RBI came after the announcement made by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the UK in March 2021 that all LIBOR settings would either cease to be provided by any administrator or would no longer be representative.
