  • The GOI has set the loans disbursement target for PM Mudra Yojana at Rs 3 trillion for FY2021-22. The target is reduced compared to the last year i.e. FY2020-21 which was Rs 3.21 trillion. The reason behind target reduction is to increase allocation under Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) for the small business sector.

  • RBI has increased the timeline for banks to implement the norms and revised rules for opening current accounts to 30th Oct 2021. In Aug 2020, RBI had imposed directions related to the current accounts and had restricted banks from opening current accounts for the customers who have availed of credit facilities in the form of cash credit or overdraft from banks. As per the new guidelines, RBI allowed banks to open current accounts for customers who have not availed of cash credit or overdraft facility in the bank with exposure of less than Rs 5 crore. The central bank has allowed banks to open a current account with exposure between Rs 5 crore to Rs 50 crore.

  • The Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) signed MoU with Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to set up a manufacturing unit in the Defence Industrial Corridor of UP. Under this MoU, the BDL will invest Rs 400 crore in Jhansi.

  • SBI Payments in partnership with Hitachi Payment Services will launch e-RUPI transactions on the Yono SBI Merchant app, which will enable merchants to use the ‘UPI Voucher’ feature on SBI’s YONO Merchant app to accept prepaid UPI e-vouchers. The merchant on-boarding and transaction support will be offered by Hitachi Payment Services.
