  • MOUs:
    • The government of Arunachal Pradesh signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NITI Aayog & an organization to bring a large-scale transformation in school education. This MoU has been signed as a three-year partnership. It will be implemented from 2022 to 2025. It focuses on the enhancement of the learning outcomes of students in over 3,000 government schools in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Festivals:
    • The Ministry of Culture organized “TirangaUtsav” -an evening filled with cultural and musical performances to celebrate the contributions of PingaliVenkayya to the nation on the occasion of his 146th Birth Anniversary in New Delhi.
  • Sports
    • India's Vikas Thakur won the silver medal in men's 96kg category weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2022. Vikas lifted a total weight of 346 kg (155 kg in snatch and 199 kg in clean and jerk). This is Vikas Thakur's third commonwealth games medal as he won a silver medal in Glasgow 2014 and a bronze medal in Gold Coast 2018.
    • Indian women's lawn ball team won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The Indian quartet of Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Rupa Rani Tirkey beat South Africa 17-10.
    • Indian men's table tennis team clinched the gold medal defeating Singapore 3-1 in the final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Tuesday. It was another dominant performance by the Indian paddlers.
    • Indian badminton team claimed the silver medal in the mixed group match of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
    • Lovepreet Singh has won bronze in the men’s 109kg weightlifting final with a total lift of 355kg, taking India’s medal tally in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Cameroon’s Junior has taken the lead with a total lift of 361kg.

    • Afghanistan received $40 million in cash as humanitarian aid according to countries central bank Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB). The country has increased its foreign exchange reserve by nearly $900 with the aid it received.
  • Obituaries
    • Veteran Bengali singer Nirmala Mishra passed away due to a heart attack. Her hit songs include 'O tota pakhi re', ' Emon Ekta jhinuk khuje pelam na', 'Ei Banglar Mati te'. West Bengal government conferred on her the 'Sangeet Samman', ' Sangeet Mahasamman', and 'Bangabhibhushan' awards. She was also given the Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das award for her lifetime contribution to Odia music.
    • Former Philippine president Fidel Valdez Ramos passed away at the age of 94. He was a US-trained ex-general who saw action in the Korean and Vietnam wars and played a crucial role in a 1986 pro-democracy uprising that ousted a dictator.

    • Godrej Properties Ltd appoints Gaurav Pandey as the new Managing Director and Chief executive officer with effect from 1 January 2023. He will replace Mohit Malhotra.
    • The world bank appointed Auguste Tano Kouame as country director for India. He served as the World banks country director for the Republic of Turkiye. He will replace Junaid Kamal Ahmad who completed his five-year term.
  • National News
    • Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the 4th ONGC para games in Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi. The 4th ONGC para games are organized by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC). About 275 persons with disability are participating in the games.
    • A child’s Aadhaar card is not mandatory for availing of benefits under the Anganwadi services and it can be accessed using the mother’s Aadhaar card, according to the guidelines for the new ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2 scheme’.
