  • State News
    • Nitish Kumar has submitted his resignation as the NDA chief minister in Bihar to the state governor Phagu Chauhan. He also submitted a support letter of 160 MLAs to stake claims to form a new government.
    • Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant has announced that the state government will implement 100% of the syllabus in higher education institutes along the lines of the National Education Policy (NEP).
    • The Haryana government withdrew the Haryana Control of Organised Crime bill 2020 after the center pointed out certain discrepancies in the bill. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij moved a resolution in assembly to withdraw the bill.
    • Assam cabinet approves Rs 123 crore for rebuilding houses that are damaged in flood. The government will provide Rs 1 lakh to families in hill areas whose houses are either fully or severely damaged by flood and 95,000 each to families in plain areas.

    • Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai has announced that Kannada film star Puneeth Rajkumar, who died last year, will be conferred with the ‘Karnataka Ratna’ award posthumously.
    • Prof Ramadhar Singh, professor at the Amrut Mody School of Management of Ahmedabad University becomes the first Indian social psychologist on the Psychology Society's Heritage Wall of Fame in the US.
    • Indian-American Arya Walvekar has been crowned Miss India USA in 2022 at the annual beauty pageant held in New Jersey. Arya Walvekar represented USA's capital Washington D.C at the contest.

  • Banking and Finance
    • Kerala-based Federal Bank has become the first bank to list its Payment Gateway platform on the TIN 2.0 platform of the Income Tax Department.
    • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs. 2.33 crore on Hyderabad-based Spandana Sphoorty Financial Ltd for its failure to adhere to the pricing of credit guidelines for Non-Banking Financial Company - Micro Finance Institutions (NBFC-MFIs).
    • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given permission to Small Finance Banks which has completed two years of operation and have a minimum net worth of Rs 500 crore to deal with foreign exchange. Other criteria for doing forex business include profit in the previous two years and net NPA (Non-Performing Asset) does not exceed 6 percent in the previous four quarters.

    • Sri Lankan spinner Prabath Jayasuriya won the ICC men's player of the month for July 2022. England's batting all-rounder Emma Lamb won the ICC women's player of the month for July 2022.
    • P V Sindhu won the gold medal in Women's Singles Badminton after defeating Canada's Michelle Li at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
    • Indian Table Tennis player Gnanasekaran Sathiyan won a bronze medal in the men's singles event defeating Paul Drinkhall of England 4-3 at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
    • Indian men's hockey team wins silver medal after losing to Australia for 0-7 at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
    • Achanta Sharath Kamal wins gold medal in men's singles final in Table Tennis after defeating England's Liam Pitchford 4-1 at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
    • India's Satwik Sai Raj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the gold medals in men's doubles in Badminton at Commonwealth Games 2022. The duo defeated England's Ben Lane and Sean Mendy with a score of 0-2.
    • India's Lakshya Sen wins a gold medal in men's singles badminton at Commonwealth Games 2022. He defeated Malaysia's, Tze Yong.
  • National News
    • With an objective to boost the 5G ecosystem within India and to achieve the objectives of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, the Government of India has decided to offer the use of Indigenous 5G Test Bed free of cost to the Indian Government recognized start-ups and MSMEs for the next six months upto Jan 2023.
    • Lok Sabha passed a bill to rename New Delhi International Arbitration Centre as the Indian International Arbitration Centre.
    • Parliament passed a bill to convert the National Rail and Transportation University, a deemed-to-be university into Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, an autonomous central institution. The central universities amendment bill also seeks to expand the scope of the university beyond the railways to cover the entire transportation sector to support growth in the field.
  • Defence
    • 12th edition of Defence Expo, India's flagship exhibition on Land, Naval and Homeland Security System to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The event will be held on October 18 and 22, 2022. The theme for this year is "Path to Pride".
    • The Indian Army conducted a pan-India satellite communication exercise named ‘Ex Skylight’, in the last week of July. The main objective of this exercise was to test the operational readiness and robustness of its hi-tech satellite communication systems, in the event of an attack by an adversary.
