  • The National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh has collaborated with National Insurance Company Ltd. to insure high-altitude yak. The insurance policy will protect yak owners against risks posed by weather calamities, in-transit mishaps, diseases, riots, surgical operations and strikes. Thus the policy will grant financial security to Yak rearing communities.
  • Qatar Airways joins International Air Transport Association (IATA) Turbulence Aware platform. The platform will help airlines to mitigate the impact of turbulence which is a leading cause of passenger & crew injuries and higher fuel costs each year. It will share anonymized turbulence data collected from multiple participating airlines and thousands of daily flights to mitigate the impact of turbulence. The data will allow pilots to select optimal flight paths to avoid turbulence and flying at optimum levels in order to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

  • India’s first private Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility plant was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is set up by Baidyanath Ayurvedic Group.
  • India’s first Cryptogamic garden was inaugurated in the Deoban area of Dehradun in Uttarakhand. It was inaugurated by social activist Anoop Nautiyal. The term Cryptogamae means ‘hidden reproduction’ which means the fact that no seed, no flowers are produced i.e. it simply means that non-seed bearing plants. Examples of cryptogams are Algae, bryophytes (moss, liverworts), lichens, ferns and fungi.
  • PM Narendra Modi received the first copy of the book ‘The Ramayan of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’ written by Late Baljit Kaur Tulsi.
