  • The NTPC Ltd. will be constructing India’s single-largest solar photovoltaic project at Rann of Kutch region in Khavada, Gujarat. It will have a capacity of 4.75 Gigawatt (Gw). It will be constructed by NTPC’s renewable energy arm, NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC-REL).

  • The Union Cabinet headed by PM Narendra Modi announced to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners to 28%. There is an increase of 11% with the existing 17% of the basic pay/pension. The increase in rate will be effective from 1st July 2021. Also, the DA/DR rate for the period between Jan 2020 to June 2021 will remain at 17%.
  • The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) signed MoU with HI-NO-DE Foundation and Ichishin Holdings Co. Ltd. The MoU was signed to frame Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) to offer training and placement to Indian students in Japan.

  • ‘The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2021’: It is the title of the report released by UN-FAO. As per the report, between 720 and 811 million people in the world faced hunger in 2020, which is around 161 million more than in 2019.
  • ISRO conducted a successful 3rd test of the liquid propellant Vikas Engine for the core L110 liquid stage of the human-rated GSLV Mk III vehicle. The test was conducted as part of the engine qualification requirements for the Gaganyaan Programme. The test was conducted at the test facility of ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu.
  • The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in India and the government of Rajasthan entered into a partnership to improve the Targeted Public Distribution System (TDPS) in the state. The partnership will also enhance other parameters like digitisation, data aggregation, performance dashboards for monitoring of the TDPS; these parameters will allow the real-time and long-term solutions to improve the food and nutritional security in the state.
