  • The Accra of Ghana was named as UNESCO World Book Capital for 2023 by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO. Accra has become the 23rd city to be named World Book Capital since 2001. The cities which are inducted in World Book Capital work to promote books and reading for all age groups and also make arrangements for various programs for promotional activities.

  • The Ministry of Defence announced to procure 118 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) Arjun Mk-1A. The order for the same was made with Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi for worth Rs 7,523 crore. The Arjun Mk-1A will sharpen the Indian army’s combat edge. It is developed by Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) and the manufacturing will take place at Heavy Vehicles Factory in Chennai.
  • The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has set up the first-ever Tussar Silk Yarn Production Centre at Choudwar in Cuttack district in Odisha at the cost of Rs 75 lakhs. The silk yarn production centre was inaugurated by Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman of KVIC.
