  • National News
    • Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the restoration of Jedva lake in the Vadsar area of Kalol. He will also attend the First convocation of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar.
    • Google India launched new programs, initiatives, collaborations, and investments in India to protect people from online harm. These plans were unveiled at the second edition of its annual Safer with Google event held in New Delhi. Google announced the launch of a cybersecurity upskilling program for 100,000 developers, IT, and startup professionals across the country, a multilingual user awareness campaign supported by MEITY and Digital India Corporation. Google also launched the first-ever digital safety focussed grant of $2 million.
  • State News
    • K Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana to expand medical education in the state by sanctioning 16 new medical colleges and is also proposed to set up 13 more medical colleges. Prior to the formation of the state in 2014, there were only five government medical colleges in the state.
    • Nagaland gets its 2nd railway station. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio flagged off passenger train service from the state's 2nd train station in Shukhovi, 119 years after the first station opened in Dimapur. The first station in Dimapur was established in 1903.

    • Belgian-Dutch racing driver Max Verstappen wins Belgian Grand Prix to extend his world championship lead to 93 points. Max Verstappen represents Red Bull. Sergio Perez finished second in the race.
    • Denmark's Victor Axelsen won his second badminton world title after beating Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-5, 21-16 in the final in Tokyo. Victor Axelsen has won the world title in Glasgow in 2017. This is his sixth title of the season. In Women's singles, Japan's reigning champion Akane Yamaguchi defeated China's Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Chen Yufei in the final. Akane Yamaguchi defeated Chen Yufei 21-12, 10-21, 21-14 in the final.
    • India defeated Pakistan in an Asia cup game. Pakistan scored 147 all out in 19.5 overs (Mohammed Rizwan scored 43 runs). India scored 148 in 19.4 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 35 off 29 balls, Virat Kohli scoring 35 off 34 balls, and Hardik Pandya 33 off 17 balls. Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar had the best figures of 4 for 26.
    • Manipur's Linthoi Chanambam won the country's first-ever gold medal at the World Cadet Judo Championship 2022 in the women's-57 Kg category in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina.

    • National Sports day is celebrated in India on August 29, to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The government 2012 decided to celebrate August 29th as National Sports day.     • Reserve Bank of India(RBI) to establish a fraud registry to compile a database of dubious websites, phones, and other digital fraud methods to increase client safety. This database will assist to stop fraudsters from committing the same fraud because the websites and mobile numbers will be blacklisted.

    • United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) president Abdulla Shahid will visit India on August 28 and 29. He will meet the senior leadership, focussing on ongoing issues at the UN body and the country's engagement in the world organization. During his visit, he will meet Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra.
