  • Hero Moto Corp joined hands with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) to set up charging infrastructure for two-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) in India. The charging facility will be controlled by a Hero Moto Corp Mobile Application that will work on a cashless transaction model.
  • The Israeli Embassy in India in collaboration with NGO Khushii, launched Project “Saaras” to raise awareness about menstruation health and improve the skills and capacity of women. Under the project, an all-women team will sell naturally made sanitary pads.
  • On the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, India hosted the 10th Ministerial Commission of Foreign Ministers of the India-Brazil-South Africa Trilateral Cooperative Forum (IBSA).

  • UCO Bank became the first lender to receive the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) approval to open a special Vostro account with Russia’s Gazprom Bank for trade settlement in Indian rupees.
  • REC Limited (Formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) was accorded the status of “Maharatna” Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE). REC Ltd. became the 12th company to attain the “Maharatna” status.
  • Elvis Ali Hazarika, the veteran swimmer from Assam, became the oldest Indian swimmer to cross the North Channel. The North Channel is the strait between southwestern Scotland and north-eastern Northern Ireland.
  • Appointments:
    • The Government of India appointed Bharat Lal as the Director General, National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG). Lal is a retired 1988-batch Indian Forest Officer of Gujarat cadre.
    • The Supreme Court appointed Retd. Justice L Nageswara Rao to take over the process of amending the constitution of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), preparing its electoral rolls; and conducting elections to its executive body.
    • Max Life Insurance announced Rohit Sharma and Ritika Sajdeh as their Brand Ambassadors.
  • Military Exercises:
    • With an aim to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and strengthen the working relationship, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Coast Guard of the United States participated in the Abhyas Drill. The three-day event was held in the off-coast of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Important Days:
    • Every year, September 23, is observed as the International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL). It is an initiative of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD). The theme for the IDSL 2022 is, “Sign Languages Unite Us!”.
  • Books:
    • The Principal Scientific Adviser to the GoI, Ajay Sood, and the British High Commissioner Alex Ellis unveiled the book “She Is–Women in STEAM” which is written by Elsa Marie D’Silva and Supreet K Singh.
  • Obituary:
    • Former Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and ex-union minister Sedapatti R Muthiah passed away at the age of 77.
    • Legendary racehorse-trainer and winner of 19 Classics, Uttam Singh, passed away at the age of 103.
  • Sports:
    • India will host the Moto GP World Championship Race 2023 for the first time. It is named as “Grand Prix of Bharat” and will be held at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida.
    • Babar-led Pakistan thrashed England by 10 wickets in the 2nd T-20 match. Babar Azam scored a ton to secure a thumping victory over the visitors.
